COVID-19 UPDATE

We are excited to resume recording sessions as BC businesses operate during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, and our top priority is the health and safety of our clients and staff.

Monarch Studios was the first studio in Canada to meet the strict safety guidelines required to become a SAG-AFTRA approved studio for Voice Over and Film Audio Recording.  We have also added two HyperHEPA filtration units to our control room and recording rooms, and upgraded the air filters in our HVAC system to MERV 13 hospital-grade filters.

If you are a musician or band who had plans to record, but have been interrupted by COVID-19, please get in touch.  We will work with you to create a plan for a safe recording process that can be completed within your budget.

UPDATE:  We are happy to announce that all of our engineers and interns have been double-vaccinated for COVID-19.

LOCATION & DIRECTIONS

The studio is located in East Vancouver, Canada, in the artistic Cedar Cottage / Commercial Drive neighbourhood. The studio is across the street from a cafe, and just blocks away from many great restaurants and a cold beer and wine store.

When entering the studio from the front on Commercial Street, look for the black door with the white butterfly logo and 3702 on it located between Britannia Food Equipment and a grey house. The front entrance is set back from the street by approximately 40 feet. Press the “CALL” button when you arrive.

When coming from the alley (best choice if you have gear to load in), look for the blue-grey concrete block building, also with a black door with the white butterfly logo and 3702 on it. There are parking stalls at the back that you are welcome to use as well as free street parking in the neighbourhood.

INTERNSHIPS

Monarch Studios occasionally takes on new interns. If the following describes you, feel free to write us at intern@monarchstudios.com. Please do not drop by the studio without an appointment, as a session is likely in progress.  We appreciate your patience as it takes some time to review potential candidates and find a moment to reply.

The audio industry is a demanding one, and we are looking for the following in our interns. You have to want to be the first one at the studio in the morning and last one to leave at night. You go out of your way to make sure clients are comfortable, the studio is clean, and that sessions go as smoothly as possible. You have a good attitude, good people skills, and can be upbeat even when you are tired. Our goal is to raise up interns to become paid engineers and future clients of the studio. For that reason, to be considered you must be interested in interning for at least 6, preferably 12 months and be a Canadian citizen or have permanent residency in Canada. Because of the large number of audio school graduates applying, we do not accept applications from people without at least one year completed at an accredited audio school, or the equivalent experience in a commercial studio.
